At JNC Premier Pitches, we believe that the long-term performance of any synthetic pitch begins below the surface. A correctly designed and constructed sub-base and drainage system are critical for stability, durability, and year-round usability.
Our in-house groundworks team carries out all excavation and base preparation using precision laser-guided bulldozers to ensure accurate levels and falls. Once the topsoil is stripped, a 50mm layer of clean crushed stone is laid as the initial foundation layer.
Next, a full drainage system is installed. This includes lateral land drainage pipes that are connected to a primary carrier drain along the pitch perimeter, discharging into a manhole, inspection chamber, or soak pit depending on site-specific requirements. To maintain the integrity of the sub-base, Terram geotextile membranes and geogrids may be introduced where necessary to prevent migration of fines and enhance load-bearing capacity.
Following drainage installation, the pitch base is built up using layers of certified 804 aggregate, topped with a fine dust layer. Each layer is compacted and levelled with laser precision to create a seamless finish and ensure proper surface falls, preventing water accumulation and ensuring all-weather playability.
Once complete, the surface is ready for the installation of the shockpad and synthetic carpet.
All JNC Premier Pitches are constructed to meet or exceed the standards required for certification by leading sporting organisations, including FIFA, GAA, FIH (Hockey), and IRFU (Rugby).
In addition to pitch construction, JNC Premier Pitches also provides a range of complementary civil works, including:
