At Killmallock, the old carpet was removed using a specialist turf muncher machine which is the only one of its kind being used for refurbishment projects in Ireland. (Click here to view the Turf Muncher in action)

The turf muncher allows the old carpet to be removed without damaging the existing base. Sand and rubber infill is transferred into tonne bags and neatly rolls the carpet into 2m wide rolls which can then be recycled and monetised. JNC Premier Pitches are the only company in Ireland using this method when it comes to astro pitch refurbishment projects.
